For effective learning to take place, the teacher must have a handle on behaviour. By creating positive student – teacher relationships with respect for the rights of individuals and consequences, self-discipline can develop. Teachers need to plan for behaviour and teaching routines and rules. In turn, there must be a clear structure of consequences that is fully understand and used to inform the choices they make.
This half day session for NQTs explores practical strategies for successful behaviour management. It is important to think about what is behind a child's behaviour as it could be a Special Educational Need. During this session we will talk about the wide range of needs within the Social, Emotional and Mental Health category of the SEND Code of Practice and the impact on behaviour of other SENs.
